Knowledge is Power

Have you ever wondered about the difference between food sensitivity and food allergy? Well, food sensitivities are related to your digestive system and are caused due to a lack of sufficient digestive enzymes to break down a particular food. Food sensitivities are milder and less life-threatening compared to food allergies. Because food sensitivities are associated with milder symptoms, most people go undiagnosed their entire life. Symptoms associated with food sensitivities can manifest from a few hours from ingestion to more immediate and delayed symptoms.
On the other hand, food allergies are caused when your body recognizes certain foods as allergens. To protect you, when your immune system encounters allergens it overreacts by generating IgE antibodies, which leads to the release of histamines, causing an immediate reaction. In some instances, your body releases large amounts of histamines that cause your body to go into life-threatening severe allergic responses, also known as anaphylaxis.

Test Preparation

Register your test kit and schedule an appointment with one of our mobile healthcare professionals. Follow the instructions in the instruction card included in your test kit before your appointment. We advise you to maintain your usual dietary habits and consume various foods a couple of weeks before your blood collection appointment unless advised by a healthcare provider. If you have previously experienced adverse reactions and/ or anaphylaxis to certain foods, please avoid eating those foods because secondary exposures can be fatal.

The 96-panel food sensitivity test measures the IgG antibodies produced by your immune system in response to certain foods that your body is sensitive to. Your report will show levels of IgG antibodies produced against each of the foods in the 96 food sensitivity panel. The IgG levels are classified into reaction classes ranging from Very Low (0), Low (I), Moderate (II), High (III), and Very High (IV). You could identify the culprit for your uncomfortable symptoms by doing a two-part elimination diet based on foods with higher IgG antibody levels.
